Thoughts; spend more time on the outsides of your ships. I think they need more attention and can turn something that's fairly bland into something that looks a lot better. I mean, compare the Nova Star/Nestt plans to some of your custom stuff - there's a lot more detail and life in them, which I feel some of your ships are lacking right now. They have potential, but some areas just seem skipped over, and there are too many flat-colour floor sections.
While I'd be the first to admit that I'm no artist, what your're seeing on my ships are the stock options. I always leave room for changes and improvements for the modified versions that follow.
There is also the difference between Star Wars and more realistic design. The Nova Star has a lot of really cool-looking green bits that no one can tell you what they do. I have an odd aversion to adding parts with no serious function for aesthetic value.

Ahhh. I see the pipes and stuff as kind of like blood vessels and so on. They link the entire thing together and make it all warm and squishy and fuzzy and... okay, enough of that. Seperated components don't look very "real" to me, though I suppose one can argue that all the pipes and cabling go through the unshown floor sections. What my brain is also seeing is a lot of wasted floor space.
To each their own!
I also mean in the general "shape" of the ships too, though. It may just be me, but they seem kinda flat and blocky.
My ships are designed much like houses in that respect. The cabling and piping runs through the floors and walls.
True, most of my ships are designed with a lot of angles. I don't get along with curves very well, obviously. I haven't uploaded all of my work yet, and there are quite a few more to come.
The other thing to consider is that most of what I've shown so far are older model ships, designed more for functionality than appearance. In the case of both the Guardians and Trailblazers, the ships shown are stock models that are over a hundred years old, and considered almost antiques when compared to more modern ships.
I'm a short, aging, bad-tempered writer who is known for being brutally honest and blunt as a hammer. I may not be the best author out there, but I'm damn good at times.
This is offset by an inability to draw, play any musical instrument, and in fact a general lack of any other talent whatsoever.
